being a fan of "sword & sorcery" genre, it's no surprise that i'm greatly enamoured with the lord of the rings. i've read the books, watched the dvd's, and played the pc games, over and over again.
however, i grew tired of it all, as expected. the dvd's either collect dust in a cabinet somewhere, or simply won't play anymore because of overuse; the games got boring; the books are left to rot (tolkien's writing style isn't exactly an easy read, in my opinion); and i gave up the idea that i'm an elf in my previous life, too.
i'm crossing my fingers on narnia and brothers grimm, but i feel... (more)

what's up with this weather? 'nuff said.

aren't these shampoo commercials the worst ever or what? you know what i'm talking about. balik bounce, instant ayos, sumusunod sa galaw? yeah, those commercials. they're not exactly music to the ears. these commercials do nothing but defile the already less-desirable local networks. that's why i tend to stick with etc, jacktv, axn and starworld more: no stupid bubblegum-pop commercials with irritating lyrics that bring nothing but earwax to my ears.

wedding crashers has got to be the funniest movie of the year. kill me if i'm wrong.
think white chicks of 2005, only way better. what's impressive is they didn't need to resort to toilet humor or racial jokes to make people laugh like all teen comedies do nowadays. no yo' momma jokes, no persistent flatulence and defecation, just pure witty, well-written comedy.
i give all the credit to vince vaughn, who's mainly responsible for making the movie funny from start to finish. if you think he was funny in mr & mrs smith (despite the small role), then you've seen nothing yet. hell, i... (more)

been very busy (or lazy, your pick) lately, which explains the lack of updates. besides, there's nothing close to being worthwhile for me to rant about, so yeah...

anyway, i'm not one who's fond of answering/reading surveys, but to keep the tradition alive, what the heck, here's one. tagged by rocketboy:

and for final jeopardy: you know you're screwed if...

a) you're broke

b) it's your girlfriend's birthday

c) she wants a $350 technomarine watch as a present

d) all of the above?

c'mon, it's not rocket science.

after much "negotiations", i've managed to lower the bid quiet a bit to a more reasonable-priced gift (the watch will wait till christmas). still, i can't help but feel agitated over how hard-pressed for money i am right now. blame it on the credit card. and incessant, unnecessary spending too.

but i still itch to spend, nevertheless. it feels like the things i... (more)

ok, so she cheated (and i'm not talking about your girlfriend). however, before we condemn her as the anti-christ incarnate, i'd like to ask these questions first: who exactly can we replace her with that is honest and competent (if ever such person exists in the government)? who exactly resembles a remotely viable option for presidency should she relinquish her power, be it by force or her own accord?

yeah, i thought so. no one.

here are more movies i've seen recently:

WAR OF THE WORLDS: while the CG is nothing short of stunning (it makes independence day look like fairy tale), i find the storyline and character development subpar. spielberg never really took the time to get the characters introduced to the audience, and goes straight to business (which, as we all know, is the extermination of humans). perhaps it really is how the story went in the book (never got to read it so i can't really comment), so, ermm, i don't know.
who the aliens were, why they attacked, and how their ships somehow ended up... (more)

i always wake up on the wrong side of bed every sunday, although literally the other side of my bed is against the wall. why is that? because armageddon takes place in our quiet little neighborhood every sunday.
my family has a born-again school/church as tenants, and this time of the week (and saturday nights too, occassionally) they would rattle the whole neighborhood with loud church music amplified by microphones, electric guitars and drums. they would sing for hours, non-stop, without any regard to whether their neighbors are still in deep, peaceful slumber. it makes me wonder at times...
